Original price: approx. DM 660,- Highlights: optical performance, built, macro Downsides: huge and heavy! "A lens that (I don't know why) evokes different opinions. I think that this 'monster' is one of my best manual lenses. I’m very pleased with its results, and it is quite fast for a tele zoom lens."

DM 900,- Highlights: optical performance, built, macro Downsides: price, rather long "Despite offering such a wide focal length range, this lens is simply amazing! Very sharp but still pleasant pictures as far as colours etc. is concerned. Definite recommendation!"

Tamron
SP 3.5/70-210 CF Macro MC 19AH Original price: approx. DM 800,- Highlights: optical performance Downsides: price "I was really lucky when I got this zoom lens. It was sold as broken, but actually it isn't. That's why I got it so cheap. This lens is amazing. A constant f3.5 and such a great performance! Some say it is the best manual 70-210 ever."

Canon
EF 4-5.6/75-300 USM II Original price: approx. DM 660,- Highlights: pretty good AF Downsides: opt. quality at 300mm, not really fast "This is the only AutoFocus-telezoom-lens I can use at my favourite cam, teh EOS 350D. It is a very good lens between 75 and 200mm, but it loses at the lond end a lot. My manual lenses that reach 300mm are better here."

Tamron
AF 4.5-5.6/80-210

|

Kiron
4.5/70-210 Macro 1:4 MC Highlights: optically nice, "street" price, pretty sharp Downsides: "only" f4.5 "A very nice lens lens. It only opens to f4.5 but it offers this aperture at the whole focal range." |

Soligor
C/D Zoom+Macro 3.8-4.8/75-205 MC Original price: approx. DM 380,- Highlights: "street" price Downsides: quality of rubber ring "A good lens. Despite the smaller focal range it is only close to the 70-220 or the C/D 35-200. Still, the C/D 75-205 is by no means bad and if you can get for a nice price, you'll enjoy this zoom lens."

Tamron
3.8-4/70-210 Macro 46A Original price: approx. DM 500,- Highlights: "street" price Downsides: rather plastic feeling "This 70-210 is a later model of the traditional Tamron 3x zoom lenses. It is pretty fast, almost as fast as the legendary 19AH, but it comes in a plastic finish that does not comply with the other Tamron SP-series lenses. However, this 'standard' 70-210 produces very nice pictures and can serve as a versatile tele-zoom lens."

Tokina
RMC II 4/80-200 Original price: approx. DM 450,- Highlights: constant f4, built Downsides: not many "One of my first telezoom-lenses, the Tokina shows surprisingly good quality. I once had this lens with a PK-mount and now as a M42-version. Fast enough and pretty good in all respects."
|
||
Hoya
HMC Macro 3.8/80-205 Original price: approx. DM 450,- Highlights: price Downsides: all in all rather mediocre "The only telezoom-lens I can use as an 'longer' addition to my Soligor at my Canon FTb QL. It is pretty fast and good enough that I do not feel the need to buy a better one." |

Compact
Auto Zoom S 1:4-5.6/70-210 MC Original price: approx. DM 280,- Highlights: price Downsides: not really fast "Apart
from the rubber zoom ring, it is in a good condition, and the pictures
it produces are much better than expected.

Tokina
AF 4-5.6/70-210 SD Original price: approx. DM 400,- Highlights: price Downsides: not really fast, incompatible with DSLRs "I use this lens at my EOS 500 and EOS 600, since is produces an ERR99 at my EOS 350D. For film issues it is good enough, ablthough there surely are better lenses out there."

Hanimex
C-Macro 4.5/80-200 Original price: approx. DM 300,- Highlights: price (in used condition) Downsides: prone to fungus "This is the telezoom-lens I used at my PK-mount bodies. Nothing spectacular."
